Artist Bio
Sculptor, Lucy Clayton, explores ideas associated with the Anthropocene: the period in which human activity has had a detrimental impact on the environment. Her work explores the division between the human and the natural. Through the use of naturally originating materials, the artist explores the way in which concrete becomes a 'hyper object,' and a metaphor for the unbiodegrable materials that remain on the planet long after their function. Human intervention between natural and processed materials creates this unnatural cold state, and further questions the human influence over the natural world, and how natural nature really is.
